چکیده

Brandenburger, Friedenberg, and Keisler [Econometrica 76 (2008), 307352] show that rationality and common assumption of rationality (RCAR) is impossible in a complete and continuous type structure. We show, by inroducing an alternative notion of “weak assumption”, that rationality and common weak assumption of rationality (RCWAR) is possible in a complete and continuous type structure. This possibility result provides an epistemic characterization for iterative admissibility.

On the Lie-Santilli Admissibility

The largest class of hyperstructures is the one which satisfies the  weak properties. We connect the theory of P-hopes, a large class of  hyperoperations, with the Lie-Santilli admissibility used in  Hardonic Mechanics. This can be achieved by a kind of Ree,  sandwich hyperoperation.

Lexicographic beliefs and assumption

Foundations for iterated admissibility (i.e., the iterated removal of weakly dominated strategies) need to confront a fundamental challenge. On the one hand, admissibility requires that a player consider every strategy of their opponents possible. On the other hand, reasoning that the opponents are rational requires ruling out certain strategies. Brandenburger, Friedenberg and Keisler’s (BFK, E...

Inference Rules in Nelson's Logics, Admissibility and Weak Admissibility

Our paper aims to investigate inference rules for Nelson’s logics and to discuss possible ways to determine admissibility of inference rules in such logics. We will use the technique offered originally for intuitionistic logic and paraconsistent minimal Johannson’s logic. However, the adaptation is not an easy and evident task since Nelson’s logics do not enjoy replacement of equivalences rule....

Self-admissible sets

Best-response sets (Pearce [29, 1984]) characterize the epistemic condition of “rationality and common belief of rationality.” When rationality incorporates a weak-dominance (admissibility) requirement, the self-admissible set (SAS) concept (Brandenburger-Friedenberg-Keisler [18, 2008]) characterizes “rationality and common assumption of rationality.” We analyze the behavior of SAS’s in some ga...

Admissibility in a Logical Framework

Theories of rational choice are often based on the assumption that the agent’s choices are reducible to a preference ordering on the set of alternatives. This assumption is reflected in work from a variety of disciplines including economics [19], psychology [15], and statistics [32], as well as in philosophy where the “logic of preference” is an established topic of study [12]. However, a persi...
